Lumeris leveraged Eliza’s outreach solutions to effectively engage a targeted portion of Essence Healthcare’s female Medicare Advantage members who hadn’t received their preventative mammography screening. With a proactive approach of personalized phone calls driving tailored conversations, patients were educated on the importance of receiving their mammogram and were reminded to schedule their screening. The outreach also helped members overcome barriers to accessing healthcare.
The results were superior, with nearly a 10 percent lift in care gap closure (25 percent with outreach vs. 15 percent without outreach) when a member was reached. More than 60 percent of members attempted were reached, besting Eliza’s benchmarks for similar populations by nearly 20 percentage points. These results can be attributed to the engagement design positioning Essence Healthcare’s strong brand recognition, with a caller-ID tag of ‘Essence Health,’ and a warm greeting and conversational approach scripted by Eliza. In addition, patients were engaged on the phone calls, with 86 percent of those asked saying they found the call valuable.

Essence Healthcare achieved 5-Stars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for the 2016 plan year. Medicare Advantage and Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plans are rated annually, and incorporate measures of clinical quality and financial outcomes, including member satisfaction scores. This outreach program, in partnership with Eliza, further demonstrates the importance Essence Healthcare puts on member engagement and satisfaction.
