Highly Rated Medicare Advantage Plans Attract More Seniors

Medicare Advantage continues to be a popular choice for seniors, with enrollment outpacing overall Medicare growth. Moreover, seniors are gravitating toward higher quality plans, as seen in this infographic depicting the enrollment distribution by plan Star Rating. More than 70 percent of Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plan beneficiaries are enrolled in plans with four or more Stars.

Highly rated plans can provide richer benefits and attract membership. However, achieving—and sustaining—high performance is a tall order. Every year, CMS continues to raise its performance expectations as all plans work on the same metrics, thus driving performance thresholds higher and higher. Teaming with a partner who not only understands Medicare Advantage but also operates a high performing plan can provide a successful strategy for moving to value.
